The Savage Axis is a bolt-action rifle platform produced by Savage Arms in a variety of centerfire rifle cartridges. The platform has been offered in multiple configurations, including different stock finishes, barrel lengths, chamberings, and optic packages.
The Axis XP configuration is generally associated with a rifle-and-optic package, providing a factory-configured setup. Specific scope models and mounting arrangements can vary by production period and chambering.
The Muddy Girl version adds a distinctive camouflage pattern to the stock. Muddy Girl has become a recognizable camouflage design used on a variety of outdoor products and sporting equipment.
Because Savage has produced multiple versions of the Axis over time, exact specifications should be verified for the individual firearm rather than assumed solely from the Axis name.
The .243 Winchester is a centerfire rifle cartridge introduced in 1955. It is based on the .308 Winchester case and uses a .243-inch-diameter projectile.
The cartridge has been chambered in numerous sporting rifles and is available with a variety of factory ammunition configurations. Bullet weights, projectile designs, published velocities, and other specifications vary according to the ammunition manufacturer and individual load.
Actual ballistic performance depends on ammunition selection, barrel length, environmental conditions, and the individual firearm. For current ammunition specifications, users should consult the ammunition manufacturer’s published information and follow all applicable safety instructions.
This Savage Axis XP Muddy Girl features a 20-inch barrel. The barrel length is an important identifying specification for this particular configuration.
When evaluating a pre-owned rifle, the barrel can be inspected for exterior finish, muzzle condition, crown condition, bore condition, rifling, and chamber condition. Cosmetic wear or other characteristics should be evaluated based on the individual firearm.
The 20-inch barrel provides the compact configuration specified for this rifle while retaining the traditional bolt-action sporting-rifle format.
One of the most recognizable characteristics of this rifle is its Muddy Girl camouflage pattern. The pattern is designed specifically for outdoor enthusiasts who want an alternative to traditional camouflage finishes.
The pattern can vary slightly between individual stocks because of the way camouflage graphics are applied. Consequently, photographs of the actual rifle are the best reference for documenting the appearance and condition of the stock.
The Axis XP designation is commonly associated with a rifle package that includes a factory-mounted scope. If an optic is included with this individual rifle, its exact manufacturer, model, magnification, objective diameter, reticle, and mounting system should be confirmed from the photographs and markings.
Any rings, bases, scope covers, or other accessories should only be considered included when specifically identified in the listing.
The condition of this Savage Axis XP Muddy Girl .243 Winchester should be evaluated using the listing photographs and, when appropriate, an in-person inspection.
Areas that may be examined include the Muddy Girl stock, receiver, barrel, bolt, bore, trigger assembly, scope, and mounting hardware. Visible scratches, stock marks, finish wear, discoloration, or other cosmetic characteristics should be evaluated on the individual firearm.
Any scope or accessories included with the rifle should be documented specifically in the listing and photographs.
